We know Jesus is not a created being; he has always been here. With the Pharisees gathered around him, he asked them why King David called the LORD his Lord? They wouldn’t say anything, but they knew the answer. They also knew that Psalms 110 pointed to Jesus, but they didn’t want to admit it. How would we react if we suspected that it was the Messiah that we were talking to? Would we have believed, or would we have tried to kill him like they did? I think I would recognize him, given all the miracles he performed, but how can we be certain, considering the deception is so thick that the enemy could blind us to the truth? That is why Jesus sent us his placeholder, the Holy Spirit, to give us insights into who he is and reveal the truth that we might be missing. If they knew the truth, why didn’t they respect him? They were afraid he would take away their authority. That is why it is so important that we forget everything we think is essential and put Jesus first. We never want to be so haughty that we forget the deity of our Savior.

A Psalm of David. The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool. Psalms 110:1

He saith unto them, How then doth David in spirit call him Lord, saying, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool? If David then call him Lord, how is he his son? Matthew 22:43-45
