To the followers of Christ: The people didn’t believe that the blind man hadn’t been able to see since birth, so they asked his parents to confirm.

But the J*ws did not believe concerning him, that he had been blind, and received his sight, until they called the parents of him that had received his sight. John 9:18

They know the truth, but because this miracle had the potential to confirm that Jesus was the Messiah, they did their best to discredit him by saying that if he were from God, he wouldn’t have broken the Sabbath by mixing his saliva with clay to put on the blind man’s eyes. Jesus hadn’t come to deliver them from the Romans, as they had conjured in their minds that he would, but he had come not only to save them from their sins, but also to teach them what God expected from them, and to set the record straight about His commandments. There have been a lot of changes in our calendar, so it is unclear whether the days of the week still coincide with the Sabbath day; however, what is clear is that we rest for one day and devote it to God, and not be so strict in resting that we fail to help someone in need. Follow the Word of God, but don’t become like a Pharisee by trying to force others to follow a law you may not be following as God designed it; leave that to God.
