Isaiah 41

Once you see it in the scriptures and begin to believe it, you will stop worrying about tomorrow and how things will turn out in these evil times. God gave us the prophecies so we could prepare, but we shouldn’t be afraid. Fear of the unknown seems to grip some people and pull them down. But God, in all his glory, has sent us word through Isaiah and other vessels throughout the Bible that he is the one who helps us. We will not be left alone; God is with us always. Anyone fighting against us should fear; he says they will be as nothing. I’ve included the famous verse Isaiah 41:10, but I’ve also included some supporting verses that give insight into what will happen to our enemies. I’m looking forward to the day when they perish. Imagine living in a world where we peacefully exist. It’s coming! Wait for it! 

If you get a chance, read all of Isaiah 41; it’s a light in the darkness and encouragement for this time in history.

Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. Behold, all they that were incensed against thee shall be ashamed and confounded: they shall be as nothing; and they that strive with thee shall perish. Thou shalt seek them, and shalt not find them, even them that contended with thee: they that war against thee shall be as nothing, and as a thing of nought. Isaiah 40

Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God. Isaiah 40:1

With so many issues going on right now, I feel that my path is to comfort the Christ-followers and make them aware that their future is in the hands of God. For many years, we have been led to believe that even though the grace of God saves us through Jesus, we must fear, but I’m here to tell you that’s ridiculous! Lately, I’ve pointed to scripture showing the ones who should worry are the Satan worshipers and Christ deniers. Jesus never told us that living a life in his footsteps would be easy, but nothing good is ever easy; however, he has always said not to fear. The struggle will not last. Why does he say “comfort” twice? He wants you to hear it more than once, so we feel cozy. We have Jesus; he is our guarantee that death cannot hold us, so why live our lives in fear? Take your life day by day, moment by moment, and don’t project your fear into the future.

O Zion, that bringest good tidings, get thee up into the high mountain; O Jerusalem, that bringest good tidings, lift up thy voice with strength; lift it up, be not afraid; say unto the cities of Judah, Behold your God!  Behold, the Lord GOD will come with strong hand, and his arm shall rule for him: behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him. Isaiah 40:9-10

Isaiah 39

Have you ever had a Bible story hit you in the face? I’m sitting here trying to figure out how to tell others to be humble when, in my mind, I am far from it. Here is a perfect example of learning a truth and doing what the Bible says, not what others do. 

Merodach-baladan, the king of Babylon, had heard of Hezekiah’s sickness and recovery. He acknowledged his concern for him and had sent him letters and a gift. Hezekiah was grateful, and when the Babylonian king decided to come for a visit, he was hospitable and showed him all his treasures. God saw it as arrogance, but didn’t punish Hezekiah; however, his sons would become eunuchs, and the treasures of his kingdom would be carried off to Babylon after he passed. God promised him peace until he died. 

Then said Isaiah to Hezekiah, Hear the word of the LORD of hosts: Behold, the days come, that all that is in thine house, and that which thy fathers have laid up in store until this day, shall be carried to Babylon: nothing shall be left, saith the LORD. Isaiah 39:5-6

Hezekiah didn’t mean any harm by being hospitable to Merodach-baladan. He likely considered himself a good host, but God saw it as him showing off his riches. This lesson is hard for me to teach because I’m guilty of tastefully displaying my treasures of gold and precious stones on my body. After all, I love sparkly and extraordinary things. This teaching is quite humbling, even though I attribute everything I have to gifts from God. He had also filled the coffers of Judah, which Hezekiah showed off to the king of Babylon. Stay humble, my friends, consider how others see you, and determine whether it is pleasing to God or arrogance.

Isaiah 38

King Hezekiah had a boil and wasn’t recovering from it, so Isaiah went to him to tell him to get his house in order because he was going to die. However, he prayed and reminded God of his faithfulness. God heard his prayer and sent Isaiah to him, telling him that He would add 15 years to his life and, as a sign, turn the sundial back by 10 degrees. Here is an interesting note: God moved the sun back by 10 degrees from where it had gone down. Why doesn’t the Bible say that God stopped the rotation of the earth? It’s because we don’t rotate; we are fixed. However, the sun rotates around us, so in this case, God moved the sun back to prove that He was giving Hezekiah 15 more years of life.

Go, and say to Hezekiah, Thus saith the LORD, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will add unto thy days fifteen years. Isaiah 38:5

Behold, I will bring again the shadow of the degrees, which is gone down in the sundial of Ahaz, ten degrees backward. So the sun returned ten degrees, by which degrees it had gone down. Isaiah 38:8

The enemy expects that we won’t read our Bible to find the “not so hidden” messages revealed in its pages, so he knows he can trick us into believing anything. 

One of the main points of Isaiah 38 is that God hears our prayers, as he did for Hezekiah. Just as Hezekiah lived a life pleasing to God, we must also live our lives for Him and be ready at any moment He decides to call us home. We should revere God and offer daily praise and worship to Him. Hezekiah was a good man, and God honored him by answering his prayer.

As a side note, Isaiah told Hezekiah to put figs on his boil, and he would live. We must take the proper steps to assist in our own healing.

Isaiah 37

Hezekiah, who was of strong faith, heard from messengers of Sennacherib, the Assyrian king, that he planned to come against Judah and Jerusalem. Because of his faith, he sent messengers to Isaiah to ask him to pray. Not only did Isaiah seek God, but he also encouraged Hezekiah that Assyria would not overtake them. And just like that, 185,000 Assyrian troops didn't wake up the next day and were laid waste by the hand of a powerful angel. Not only that, but Sennacherib's own sons took him out and then fled to another country. 

When God is for you, your enemies cannot win! Don't get me wrong, sometimes it can look on the surface like you're losing, but God can see everything. It might take some time for him to work out the details and change others' minds so that things work out on your behalf. Don't give up when the situation seems daunting; know that God works things out for the good of those who love Him.

Then the angel of the LORD went forth, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians a hundred and fourscore and five thousand: and when they arose early in the morning, behold, they were all dead corpses. Isaiah 37:36

Isaiah 36

We must remember that even when we are doing good and the right things in God's eyes, trouble can still disturb our peace. The enemy hates it when we are peaceful and feeling secure in the Lord and will sometimes send his minions to shake things up. Hezekiah was reforming his people and doing his best to turn them back to God by tearing down all their high places where they worshipped other gods. Still, there was more that needed reform within them, so they were met with hostility from the Assyrian king, who had previously been an ally of Hezekiah. Sennacherib the Assyrian king sent his men to taunt them by making a mockery of his devotion to God saying, "But if thou say to me, We trust in the LORD our God: is it not he, whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah hath taken away, and said to Judah and to Jerusalem, Ye shall worship before this altar?" (Isaiah 36:7) However, those altars were not God's but were for the fake gods, making them think that the Almighty God wouldn't help them because those altars were gone. 

The enemy works in the same way today. When we let go of a persistent sin, even though we thought the temptation was gone, he will use that very thing to make us think we need it, but in reality, it keeps us far from God. That is why we must cling to the Lord, be constant in prayer, and continue to refrain from the sin that enslaves us to the enemy. 

We will see in chapter 37 what Isaiah had to do to help the people overcome the Syrian invasion and what God did to answer his prayer.

Isaiah 35

If you are living in fear because of the current condition of the world, remember, you are not of this world. God handpicks us for deliverance from the evils that torment the weak. Living in this world is not always easy; if it were, we wouldn’t need to rely on God and could go on as everyone else does. However, we are chosen and have a purpose to fulfill, and the enemy hates it. It doesn’t matter what season we are in; be assured that we are under the protection of the mighty hand of God; He sees and hears us. If fear has gripped you, ask God to relieve those fears and give you peace and assurance of His love and protection. It is those kinds of prayers that He answers quickly and will be more than happy to help calm your weary mind. Trust Him.

As a side note, I believe the eyes of the blind and the ears of the deaf are being opened. The veil is lifting, and the truth is being revealed. If you are still watching the news and believing every word, then the enemy is still closing you off to the truth. Good things are happening, but unless you open your mind to see and hear, you will remain blind and deaf. Pray for discernment.

Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come with vengeance, even God with a recompense; he will come and save you. Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped. Isaiah 35:4-5

And the ransomed of the LORD shall return, and come to Zion with songs and everlasting joy upon their heads: they shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away. Isaiah 35:10
