Isaiah 27

A Picture of the Final Judgment

Isaiah 27 is comparable to Revelation in that it mentions the slaying of a dragon, but here, there are three serpents slain by the sword.

In that day the LORD with his sore and great and strong sword shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent, even leviathanthat crooked serpent; and he shall slay the dragon that is in the sea. Isaiah 27:1

Dragon in the Sea: The Devil

After this time, the beloved of God will rejoice as a vineyard of red wine that God will water and cause to flourish. Evil is purged and good multiplied. 

And it shall come to pass in that day, that the great trumpet shall be blown, and they shall come which were ready to perish in the land of Assyria, and the outcasts in the land of Egypt, and shall worship the LORD in the holy mount at Jerusalem. Isaiah 27:13

Those who are facing trying times, be patient in your affliction. It’s rough right now, but a time is coming when we will all rejoice as God waters His vineyard and causes the good people to multiply and worship Him on His holy mountain, and be completely free from the enemy and his taunting. Wait for it; it will surely come.

Isaiah 26 

You Keep Him in Perfect Peace 

God, through Isaiah, gives us instructions on how to keep our peace during adversity and ways to avoid chastisement when He is set against those who don’t trust in Him.

Open ye the gates, that the righteous nation which keepeth the truth may enter in. Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Isaiah 26:2-3

It’s as simple as keeping our minds set upon God. I say it’s simple, but sometimes it’s not. I will sometimes start strong in prayer, and as I go, my mind wanders off, and I begin to think of my daily tasks. I will catch myself and redirect, but I’ll admit that it’s not always easy. I’m thankful for God’s grace. 

Think of this verse when you are battling the enemy, and things get hard:

Come, my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be overpast. Isaiah 26:20

There is so much more to Isaiah 26, but the main idea is to trust in the LORD and go to Him when trouble abounds; in Him is where you will find perfect peace.

Isaiah 25 

God Will Swallow Up Death Forever

Because we are positioned with God and cleansed of all unrighteousness through Jesus, He assures us a triumphant victory over our enemies and an abundant life. I believe we are very close to this happening in our lifetime. The veil is already thinning, dribbles of truth seeping through, and the enemy running scared as they see their reign of terror coming to an end. Isaiah saw it and so did John, but we are living it.

He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the LORD hath spoken it. Isaiah 25:8

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. Revelation 21:4

If you are in need of some encouragement today, take a moment to read Isaiah 25; it’s a short chapter of only 12 verses, but the impact of those verses is strong, and may be able to help you pull out of a deeply sorrowful state. It offers God worship and praise for all His goodness and mercy and gives us a glimpse into the joy that awaits us. What a wonderful time to be alive in Christ!

Isaiah 24 

Judgment on the Whole Earth 

Behold, the LORD maketh the earth empty, and maketh it waste, and turneth it upside down, and scattereth abroad the inhabitants thereof. Isaiah 24:1

Will you be part of the remnant? Isaiah 24 is a picture of what happens during the judgment of the earth, when it will be devastated by fire, leaving only a remnant who still find their joy, enough to praise and worship God. Rich and poor will be equally devastated at that time. If this scripture alludes to the final judgment and only a few are left, who are they, and why weren't they raptured? Are they the ones left behind who find Jesus? What is the timeframe for this judgment, and how long will this remnant have to suffer the earth's devastation?

Therefore hath the curse devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein are desolate: therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men left. Isaiah 24:6

Then there is mention of the windows of the earth being opened. The Book of Enoch mentions the windows of the earth, but this is the first time I've noticed it in the canon of scriptures. 

And it shall come to pass, that he who fleeth from the noise of the fear shall fall into the pit; and he that cometh up out of the midst of the pit shall be taken in the snare: for the windows from on high are open, and the foundations of the earth do shake. Isaiah 24:18

There are so many things mentioned in this chapter. However, too many people still believe everything they've been told, have their eyes covered, and have their heads in the sand, and the blind are leading the blind, but until we sincerely seek the truth, we won't find it, even though it's written on the pages of scripture.

Just to be clear, there are figures of speech in scripture, prophecies that do not make sense to the natural man, uses of parables to explain happenings, etc., so discernment is the key to understanding. God doesn't always open your mind to clarity until you've grasped other minor truths.

Isaiah 23

Isaiah’s prophecy about Tyre warned them about being taken over by Nebuchadnezzar. Much like Israel, they were taken into captivity and their city lay in ruin for seventy years. It seems that when the kingdom was taken from Nebuchadnezzar and their captives released, they returned and their city was inhabited again, much like Jerusalem. Tyre was a bustling city that reminded me of the entire United States, where commerce made it rich and beautiful. The best part of their captivity, according to historical records, was that, while serving time with the people of Israel, many people gave up their idols and began worshipping the One True God; during the time of Jesus, some also began to believe in him. This overtaking by Nebuchadnezzar shows that even a strong country can be taken away from its inhabitants if an unscrupulous leader comes to power. Why would you lay waste to a thriving city and let it go to ruin rather than use it for your benefit? It was a port city with much to be desired, and because of its ships, many people were able to escape rather than become captives. From the description in the scriptures, it’s a place that any of us could have enjoyed. 

The lesson is never to get too comfortable; anything can happen, even to a strong, desirable country like ours. Sleep in your spiritual armor!

And her merchandise and her hire shall be holiness to the LORD: it shall not be treasured nor laid up; for her merchandise shall be for them that dwell before the LORD, to eat sufficiently, and for durable clothing. Isaiah 23:18

Isaiah 22

Isaiah predicts the siege of Jerusalem by Syria and Sennacherib’s army to take them into captivity. As we have seen from previous predictions, it only seems in proper order that Jerusalem was next. Unfortunately, many in the city didn’t listen to the warning to put on sackcloth and mourn, but instead chose to “eat, drink, and be merry.”

And behold joy and gladness, slaying oxen, and killing sheep, eating flesh, and drinking wine: let us eat and drink; for to morrow we shall die. Isaiah 22:13

Even though this prophecy had nothing to do with us, it gives us a glimpse into how God guides His people. If we fail to acknowledge Him and keep our eyes glued to Him, we may also face correction. Much like the invasion of Jerusalem, the United States had a large number of immigrants crossing our borders, causing many to believe it was done on purpose as a way to take over. Currently, many are being sent back to their home countries, hopefully averting possible trouble; at least this is what the corrupt media are telling us. Remember, our media is not a reliable source of information. Personal experience is your best source. For example, we have rental properties, and our pool of tenants has dropped dramatically. Apartments that we had many applicants for a few years ago, with little trouble renting, are now taking us several weeks to rent, which leads me to believe that it is true that many immigrants are being sent back to their homelands.

No matter what others are doing around you, make sure you keep your eyes on Jesus and give the Father the worship He deserves, so when trouble abounds, He will remember your loyalty and love for Him.

Isaiah 21

The prophecies of Isaiah 21, of which there are three, are thought to have all been fulfilled. The first of Babylon, which we all know about from the Book of Daniel. The other two in this chapter, concerning Dumah and Arabia, were likely prophecies warning Judah not to count on them, because they wouldn’t be rescued. Isaiah let it be known that he was fearful of what was going to happen.

My heart panted, fearfulness affrighted me: the night of my pleasure hath he turned into fear unto me. Isaiah 21:4

Within Isaiah’s fear was comfort in hearing that God calls His people the corn of the threshing floor, which are those who trust in Him. Everything else on the threshing floor is chaff; those who are separated from the kernels will go on to live in despair. 

O my threshing, and the corn of my floor: that which I have heard of the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, have I declared unto you. Isaiah 21:10 

As a side note: The world has received fair warning throughout scripture of the coming calamity, yet they have failed to listen, even though there is proof that much of what was prophesied in scripture has been fulfilled. If the people miss the warnings, it is entirely their fault. If they fail to heed those warnings and take the necessary steps to listen and believe what God has clearly told them, then they will pay the price and live in eternal darkness. We all have eternal life, but where you spend your eternity depends entirely on your understanding of the warnings, changing to do what’s right in the eyes of God, and turning to Jesus.
