Isaiah 48

God is not an inheritance from your family. I’ve heard people profess to be Christians when they haven’t, not even once, professed Jesus as their Savior, and only consider themselves Christians because they grew up in a Christian home. Your trust in God must be sincere; otherwise, you are taking God’s name in vain. However, those who are sincere in their love for God and stay faithful to Him can expect good things in their lives.

God sent Israel through a refining process because He loved them and expected obedience, but they were an obstinate people, and instead of choosing God, they loved their idols.

What would have happened if they had been faithful? What would happen if we were faithful? Here is the key to prosperity:

  1. If you are obedient, God will keep you as peaceful as a flowing river or gentle waves on the ocean. O that thou hadst hearkened to my commandments! then had thy peace been as a river, and thy righteousness as the waves of the sea: Isaiah 48:18
  2. If you refrain from sinful behavior, God will increase your offspring, and you will not be cut off. Thy seed also had been as the sand, and the offspring of thy bowels like the gravel thereof; his name should not have been cut off nor destroyed from before me. Isaiah 48:19
  3. God will release you from captivity!
  4. He will provide everything you need for your journey.

God’s word is trustworthy and true, and the key to living an abundant life is obedience. Israel wouldn’t have gone through the refining fire had they loved Him and been obedient, and He would have prospered them without correction if they had followed Him rather than give in to idolatry. Do yourself a favor and save time and avoid heartache by following God’s commands and refraining from sin.

Isaiah 47

Isaiah sent a message and a warning from God to Babylon. God used Babylon and other nations as a tool to punish Israel as a way to bring them back into His good graces. However, those countries were too harsh and ruled over them with an iron fist; even older people and dignitaries from Israel were put under severe labor. So, to give them fair warning of their destruction, he sent them a message that includes this:

Therefore shall evil come upon thee; thou shalt not know from whence it riseth: and mischief shall fall upon thee; thou shalt not be able to put it off: and desolation shall come upon thee suddenly, whichthou shalt not know. Isaiah 47:11

God is our loving and caring Father, so we can expect that He will take up for us when our enemy, Satan or his minions, comes and tries to destroy us. You may say, “But we aren’t Israel,” however, we are grafted in and adopted into the promise according to Paul. We may or may not be Israel by birth, but God chooses us through our salvation in Jesus, so we can take the promises He made to Israel as our own. So, when God promises that He will destroy our enemies, as He did for Israel, we should take it to heart and believe that He will be the recompense for us. I’ve seen it happen, and you don’t want to be on the wrong side of God or His children. Those people will pay the price and may find themselves living a lifestyle they never imagined; they will get what they deserve, and if they don’t learn from it, they will stay downtrodden, and no one will save them.

Behold, they shall be as stubble; the fire shall burn them; they shall not deliver themselves from the power of the flame: there shall not be a coal to warm at, nor fire to sit before it. Thus shall they be unto thee with whom thou hast laboured, even thy merchants, from thy youth: they shall wander every one to his quarter; none shall save thee. Isaiah 47:14-15

Isaiah 46

The worship of idols was so prevalent in Old Testament times, and much was written about it. Isaiah spends so much time warning against it in his prophecies that it makes me believe they didn’t know any better, even though God had shown them so much mercy and deliverance that they should have known better. Here’s what I think may have happened: Satan was causing the people of Israel to believe that their fake gods were doing something, but because their minds were looking expectantly for their idols to help them, they likely helped themselves and gave credit to their idols. Satan’s power is in his lying tongue, and he procures “coincidences” to make it look like something that it’s not.

Even today, and probably more so today, he devours us by his lying tongue. He makes us believe things that are figments of our imagination, or he possibly conjures up the fallacies acted out on television or social media to make us believe they are true. For this reason, it is so imperative that we take every thought captive and make what we see and hear from others make sense in our minds. Get in the habit of asking yourself if it makes sense. If it doesn’t, then is it real or true?

There is idol worship today, but I don’t believe people are leading it. I think it is the demonic beings, those angelic beings that were removed from God’s presence and have taken on the appearance of human beings, that are leading people into believing in these fake gods. For instance, their time of worship is often displayed during half-time shows, concerts, and other big events where people participate. Satan’s biggest scheme is to lead you to believe in the innocence of these events, but he is actually relishing in it since he is the one being worshipped. Here is a reminder to be careful about what you participate in. Those are just the big ones; others may include holiday rituals that have nothing to do with God, but may be fashioned to appear as if it were God whom we are honoring, but may be another way of worshipping Satan. The point is to think about what you are doing before you participate in something that could cause you to worship something or someone other than God Almighty.

Remember this, and shew yourselves men: bring it again to mind, O ye transgressors. Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, Isaiah 46:8-9

Isaiah 45

In Isaiah 45, Isaiah speaks of Cyrus, whom God used to release Judah and Israel from captivity in Babylon, enabling them to rebuild Jerusalem and the temple. Cyrus financed this great endeavor, and Isaiah mentions that God used him for a purpose though he was not of Israel. Remember, God created everything, and we are merely dust and clay and shouldn’t challenge Him. God reminds us that He also created evil for His use.

I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.  Isaiah 45:7

Woe unto him that striveth with his Maker! Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth. Shall the clay say to him that fashioneth it, What makest thou? or thy work, He hath no hands? Isaiah 45:9

It is also important that we realize the evil beings are not a challenge for God. They may hold certain power here on earth, but those of us who reject evil and trust in God can and will overcome them. Before you go to anyone else when life becomes demanding, go to God; He is your creator and the only one able to see the future and know the directions you should go. He is the one who guides others and places the pieces where He wants them to give His children the advantage. Remember that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

Isaiah 44

It is very hard for Americans to understand the draw of people to idolatry because we weren’t brought up in a world where it is common. If you think about it, Israel’s minds had to be seared to believe that an inanimate object that they made themselves could do anything at all. They were captive in Egypt where the Egyptians worshipped idols, and then again captive in Babylon where the same thing happened there. So, coming out of captivity, they had to be retaught the truth, and God had to teach them that He was the one and only God and that the objects they were worshipping couldn’t do anything for them or anyone else. It goes to show that some lessons in the Bible are not intended for us but are written solely for the people of that day.

As Americans, we were raised to believe we are free, but are more like tributaries made to work to fund a government of thieves. We are still captives of Rome. Rome may have fallen in 476 AD, but it took on a new form as the Roman Catholic Church, and its empire is vast, controlling everything and every nation. Its teachings even run through the Protestant church, though we try to deny it, which is why discernment is necessary, and unlearning much of the things you’ve been taught that are extra-biblical. The point is that you must make God the only being you worship; He is the only deity worthy. So, as you can see, we are not much different than Israel in that we need to come out from among those who worship beings other than God. Assess your life and make sure you aren’t worshipping anything or anyone other than God Almighty.

They that make a graven image are all of them vanity; and their delectable things shall not profit; and they are their own witnesses; they see not, nor know; that they may be ashamed. Who hath formed a god, or molten a graven image that is profitable for nothing? Isaiah 44:9-10

Isaiah 43

God doesn’t forget that you put other things before Him, and rather than honor Him, you concern yourself with the things of this world. Even before Jesus shed his blood on the cross, God forgave the sins of Israel and blotted them out of His mind. Even after He was wearied with their iniquity, He forgave them.

I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins. Isaiah 43:25

Confess your sins to Him, seek His forgiveness, turn away from that sin, and He will forgive you and relieve you of the burden you carry because of it. God is so good that even though we are sinners, He desperately desires a relationship with us. Stop denying Him the honor of loving you. Accept His forgiveness and let Him hold you close and comfort you with His lasting love.

Isaiah 42

God's chosen are sitting in pews still unaware, with their eyes and ears closed. How long will we sit idly by and continue to feed those who plunder us? Some are beginning to wake up and see the truth, but many are still very drowsy or deny what is boldly before us. God is using the economy and this mixed-up world to show us. Some of the words explained away as gaffes from the politicians are the devil's way of telling you what he's doing. The truth is out there, but we're having a hard time figuring it out because the people explaining it are liars. God has given us a way to know, yet most do not crack it open, or they believe it's not for all of us. I feel like I'm trying to describe something that seems obvious, but I know that not everyone comprehends. The entire word of God is unfolding before us; it's simple, the enemy's tactics are crumbling, and Jesus is coming to judge. Stay ready!

Hear, ye deaf; and look, ye blind, that ye may see. Who is blind, but my servant? or deaf, as my messenger that I sent? who is blind as he that is perfect, and blind as the LORD'S servant? Seeing many things, but thou observest not; opening the ears, but he heareth not. Isaiah 42:18-20
