Isaiah 46

The worship of idols was so prevalent in Old Testament times, and much was written about it. Isaiah spends so much time warning against it in his prophecies that it makes me believe they didn’t know any better, even though God had shown them so much mercy and deliverance that they should have known better. Here’s what I think may have happened: Satan was causing the people of Israel to believe that their fake gods were doing something, but because their minds were looking expectantly for their idols to help them, they likely helped themselves and gave credit to their idols. Satan’s power is in his lying tongue, and he procures “coincidences” to make it look like something that it’s not.

Even today, and probably more so today, he devours us by his lying tongue. He makes us believe things that are figments of our imagination, or he possibly conjures up the fallacies acted out on television or social media to make us believe they are true. For this reason, it is so imperative that we take every thought captive and make what we see and hear from others make sense in our minds. Get in the habit of asking yourself if it makes sense. If it doesn’t, then is it real or true?

There is idol worship today, but I don’t believe people are leading it. I think it is the demonic beings, those angelic beings that were removed from God’s presence and have taken on the appearance of human beings, that are leading people into believing in these fake gods. For instance, their time of worship is often displayed during half-time shows, concerts, and other big events where people participate. Satan’s biggest scheme is to lead you to believe in the innocence of these events, but he is actually relishing in it since he is the one being worshipped. Here is a reminder to be careful about what you participate in. Those are just the big ones; others may include holiday rituals that have nothing to do with God, but may be fashioned to appear as if it were God whom we are honoring, but may be another way of worshipping Satan. The point is to think about what you are doing before you participate in something that could cause you to worship something or someone other than God Almighty.

Remember this, and shew yourselves men: bring it again to mind, O ye transgressors. Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, Isaiah 46:8-9
