God is not an inheritance from your family. I’ve heard people profess to be Christians when they haven’t, not even once, professed Jesus as their Savior, and only consider themselves Christians because they grew up in a Christian home. Your trust in God must be sincere; otherwise, you are taking God’s name in vain. However, those who are sincere in their love for God and stay faithful to Him can expect good things in their lives.
God sent Israel through a refining process because He loved them and expected obedience, but they were an obstinate people, and instead of choosing God, they loved their idols.
What would have happened if they had been faithful? What would happen if we were faithful? Here is the key to prosperity:
- If you are obedient, God will keep you as peaceful as a flowing river or gentle waves on the ocean. O that thou hadst hearkened to my commandments! then had thy peace been as a river, and thy righteousness as the waves of the sea: Isaiah 48:18
- If you refrain from sinful behavior, God will increase your offspring, and you will not be cut off. Thy seed also had been as the sand, and the offspring of thy bowels like the gravel thereof; his name should not have been cut off nor destroyed from before me. Isaiah 48:19
- God will release you from captivity!
- He will provide everything you need for your journey.
God’s word is trustworthy and true, and the key to living an abundant life is obedience. Israel wouldn’t have gone through the refining fire had they loved Him and been obedient, and He would have prospered them without correction if they had followed Him rather than give in to idolatry. Do yourself a favor and save time and avoid heartache by following God’s commands and refraining from sin.
