Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. John 8:12
Jesus is the true light. He lights our path in the darkness. We traverse this dark world and have faith that the light we see in the distance is him. Many follow a brilliance that appears to be the light, but they follow a being that hides his truth so he attracts as many as will flock to him. How do we know? Look at the people that call themselves stars. They display themselves on the big screen, television, and in concerts and plays, hoping that you will be gullible enough to worship them. It works a lot of times, too. Here is where it gets sticky: some people know we adore Jesus, so they pose as his followers and use their music and ministries to make you think that following them means following the true light of Jesus, but in reality, they are false prophets and teachers. Just be careful who you follow, even in Christian circles; listen to the words they use in their interviews and music, and make sure they line up with scripture.
And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. 2 Corinthians 11:14
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: 1 Peter 5:8
