The Mercy of God
O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever. Psalms 136:1
Don't get discouraged if you see God show mercy to worldly people and grant them a reprieve from the consequences of their actions. It is only for the here-and-now. They may become complacent, thinking they are okay with God, but His mercy ends here on earth. Then God shows us mercy by taking them out of this world and sending them to the next realm, where they will get what they deserve. How sad would it be if we had to live amidst the children of the devil forever?
For us, those who trust in Him, He shows His mercy daily. Think about it, how many times a day do you say, "thank God?" It is in those moments that you realize how merciful He is; so much so, you can't help but reach out and thank Him. He is merciful to us by giving us something to look forward to when He removes the wicked from this world and gives us peace and happiness living with Him and among those who are also devoted to Him. It is because of the sweetness of His mercy that we aren't consumed.
And therefore will the LORD wait, that he may be gracious unto you, and therefore will he be exalted, that he may have mercy upon you: for the LORD is a God of judgment: blessed are all they that wait for him. Isaiah 30:18
