The Goodness of God
O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him. Psalms 34:8
We live in such a sinful world that it is hard to fathom the meaning of “good.” No human is good; though we strive to be good by aspiring to be like Jesus, however, at any given moment, we are able and will revert to our previous nature. How do you react when someone cuts you off in traffic and nearly causes you to wreck? God is always good and never loses His cool. If we face retribution, it’s because of something we did to ourselves, not something God did.
Here is something that you’ve probably not considered: your lack of faith is a reflection on God. Why don’t we trust Him? We are hard-headed know-it-alls, and think we have to answer for everything, but really, we should know the truth about ourselves that we haven’t got a clue about how good God is, or even what it means to be good. So our homework for today and for the rest of your life is to grow your faith in God and trust that He has your life in His hands because only He is good.
