To the followers of Christ: Jesus is never late. Though it may seem that he is taking a long time to answer our prayers, and the opportunity for healing has long passed, Jesus can and often does pull out all the stops to bring us relief from our suffering. Lazarus was very sick, so Mary and Martha sent word to Jesus so that he might come and heal him. But Jesus, knowing that his disciples needed to see something extraordinary to seal their belief in him, lingered a bit longer where he was, telling them that Lazarus was only sleeping. However, they didn’t understand that he meant that he was dead, so he had to tell him plainly. They were afraid to go back to Judea because the people had attempted to stone Jesus there, but Jesus was not afraid and encouraged them to go anyway, so they could see and be sure that he was the Son of God and was God, through the miracle of raising Lazarus after being dead for four days. Don’t be discouraged if things aren’t going your way; God has his reasons for making you wait. It is so important that you take note of the things you ask of God; some of your prayers have been answered that you prayed about long ago; it may have taken so long for the answer that you had forgotten that you prayed for it. That’s why it is good to write it down in a journal so you can look back and give God the glory for your answered prayers.

Then said Jesus unto them plainly, Lazarus is dead. And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, to the intent ye may believe; nevertheless let us go unto him. John 11:14-15
