To the followers of Christ: Jesus healed a man blind from birth with a little spit and clay and told him to go and wash in Siloam. The people asked Jesus who had sinned to cause his blindness, and he said neither he nor his parents had sinned, but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.

Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him. I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work. As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world. John 9:3-5

This miracle was one of the proofs that Jesus was who he said he was, the Son of God. However, they couldn’t see it because they were so rigid that all they could do was condemn his work because it was done on the Sabbath. They were the ones who were blinded to the truth. Yes, we need to rest and rejuvenate, but when there is work to be done, we must do it and not let someone precious to God suffer because we fear breaking the rules. Jesus showed us that helping others doesn’t break the Sabbath day commandment.

We only have a short time on earth, and while we still have light in our eyes, we must do what God called us to do; Jesus wasn’t lazy, and he did the work he was sent to do while he had the time, including healing this blind man. He proved that he was God that day, but because of their prejudice, they couldn’t see it.
