The promises of God are trustworthy and true. Psalms 125 gives us three promises that we can count on:
- Those who trust in the Lord will live forever. We know this is true because Jesus bought and paid for our lives through his sacrifice. “They that trust in the LORD shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth for ever.” Psalms 125:1
- Though we may go through trials, we are surrounded by God’s fortress of protection. “As the mountains are round about Jerusalem, so the LORD is round about his people from henceforth even for ever. Psalms 125:2
- Our troubles will not last forever. “For the rod of the wicked shall not rest upon the lot of the righteous; lest the righteous put forth their hands unto iniquity.” Psalms 125:3
Keep your eye focused on the Lord; turning away from Him toward wickedness comes with a caveat: He will count us among the wicked. However, a prayer was offered that we should recite to help us overcome adversity: “Do good, O LORD, unto those that be good, and to them that are upright in their hearts.” Psalms 125:4
