Isaiah 30

Chapter 30 of Isaiah was written for that time, encouraging them not to seek help from Egypt or others, but to turn to God alone. However, God told Isaiah to write it down in a book for all to see in the future, which is us. This means we should heed the warnings in it and do what God says.

Woe to the rebellious children, saith the LORD, that take counsel, but not of me; and that cover with a covering, but not of my spirit, that they may add sin to sin: Isaiah 30:1

God warns against taking counsel with anyone but Him. How many of us turn to others rather than God when times get rough? We can indeed learn from their counsel, but if we haven’t sought God first, how will we know whether their recommendations are from God? He has given us the Holy Spirit and angels who guide us and keep us from turning the wrong way and entering into sinful ways, so if we don’t listen to God’s counsel, we will be turned in the wrong direction.

Now go, write it before them in a table, and note it in a book, that it may be for the time to come for ever and ever: Isaiah 30:8

And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left. Isaiah 30:21
