June 20

My dog Rudy, sits with me each morning as I read and study the Word. When my husband gets out of bed, sneezing and blowing his nose, Rudy gets scared and climbs into my lap. If I put the blanket over his head, he will calm down. He sits very still and quiet. He loves Richard, but the noises freak him out. I guess the blanket gives him a feeling of protection and security. The things of this world will sometimes make me feel anxious just like Rudy. Every day there is something new and more disturbing that draws our attention. The enemy knows how to stir the pot and make us feel insecure. He forgets that our security comes from Jesus and that anything he throws our way can be deflected by the protective barrier of the Holy Spirit. We seek our shelter in the comfort of the Almighty and the things of this world is of no consequence because of who we are. We are in this world for just a short time, but we are with our Father for eternity, so don’t let the enemy get you down. Trust in the One who loves you the most and seek shelter under His wings! If you need comforting today, read Psalms 91. It’s my “go to” scripture when I feel anxious or defeated.

He will cover you with his pinions, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness is a shield and buckler. Psalms 91:4
