We are all given different gifts and they motivate our actions. You can see this come to life in the different reactions to the current outrage. If only everyone knew their motivating gift, we could see the angle or slant of their view. For instance:
-If God gave a person the gift of prophecy, they will probably be rule-followers and would be outraged that laws were being broken.
-If God gave a person mercy, they would be outraged by the discomfort of the human experience.
-If a person is gifted to serve, they may say “what are we waiting for, we need to help them now.”
-A person with the gift of teaching may want to know who dropped the ball, and why we didn’t see this coming.
-A giver may be inclined to give money to bring about the change that is needed.
-The one who exhorts would be trying to encourage everyone to get along.
-The leaders would organize all of these people to get the job done!
You can see from these examples that any one person or gifting would make for a one sided picture, but if all worked together as God had intended, what seems like a disaster, could be avoided. Pray for our country - we need God to be the leader!
Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; if service, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching; the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in generosity; the one who leads, with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness. Romans 12:6-8
