December 11

This is the time of year that we, as Christians, focus our attention on the birth of our Savior. The story told of a young woman, Mary, who was a virgin, engaged to be married to Joseph who was part of the ancestry of King David. She was visited by the angel Gabriel and given the news of her pending birth. Can you imagine the fear she must have felt seeing and being talked to by an angel but also because of the news he brought? "How will this be, since I'm a virgin?" She asked him. He told her that she would conceive in her womb through the power of the Holy Spirit! Being a true servant of God, she accepted the responsibility of carrying the holy, Son of God. What has God asked you to do, but you have allowed the fear of man to stop you? What has He conceived in your heart that you have yet to give birth to? We too are servants of God and must accept the responsibility that He has given us.

And Mary said, "Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word." And the angel departed from her. Luke 1:38
