I have a palm tree that was once sitting on my porch, but because of the wind, it got knocked over a couple of times, so I brought it inside. Unfortunately, because the inside of my house doesn’t get enough light, it has failed to thrive; it looks sad and has turned brown. So today, one of my tasks is to put it back on the porch, trim off the dead, find a secure place out of the wind, and hope that the light will bring it back to life. We are that palm tree if we hide in the dark away from the light of Jesus, and neglect ourselves by not coming into his presence regularly. If you’ve been out of communication with him for a while, I feel a sense of urgency for you to call to him, and for you to bask in his light once again. There is also no time like the present to gather your family and people you love and remind them of how much you love them and encourage them to accept God’s free gift of eternal life through Jesus. He is the only one who can take the dead, trim off the sinful branches, and bring them back to life eternal. Don’t wait! They need to be exposed to the light before they die, or before the saints are caught up with Jesus in the clouds; we are close, so there is no time like now to encourage their salvation.
For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17
