I have a warning for you today. If God has given you favor and has allowed you to serve him in a capacity beyond yourself, I’m speaking to myself too, don’t you dare complain, or feel sorry for yourself if that comes as a heavy load. God does not look kindly on those who complain about and feel burdened for working for him; you will surely pay the price for your selfishness. We are to do the will of God on his behalf and not seek worldly comforts. This revelation speaks to me today! God forgive me for wanting the pleasures of this world. We need to follow him without seeking self-satisfaction and do his will. Follow Jesus with your whole heart. We must get over ourselves and let the Holy Spirit take the lead and forget about what others think of us, we are to please God, or we will pay the price for our disobedience.
Baruch was the writer for Jeremiah; he also read his prophecies before others in some instances. He complained, and Jeremiah got a word from the Lord concerning him. God remembered him complaining. He was merciful and allowed him to keep his life, but it doesn’t sound like he was thriving. Pay attention to your words, check your heart, and ask forgiveness quickly, then be an obedient servant.
Thus shall you say to him, Thus says the LORD: Behold, what I have built I am breaking down, and what I have planted I am plucking up—that is, the whole land. And do you seek great things for yourself? Seek them not, for behold, I am bringing disaster upon all flesh, declares the LORD. But I will give you your life as a prize of war in all places to which you may go.” Jeremiah 45:4-5
