Even though we are not required to keep the ceremonial law, we are still supposed to fashion ourselves after Jesus and walk in his ways. That means we must put on his likeness because he dwells within us. We don’t want to do anything that displeases him, which goes back to his commands to love God and love others. Some people are hard to love, but if they are, could they really be saved? If you are hard to love, you don’t want anyone asking that question about you. If they are not saved, we want to set an example of love and make them want to be like us and have the kind of peace that is only given to us by God. A good example plants good seeds; a bad example plants weeds! If you tell people you are a Christian, follow Jesus’s behavior, refrain from filthy talk, anger, and spitefulness, and say only good things about him. The main point is that you know what’s right in the eyes of God, so do those things and live a life pleasing to God.

But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth. Colossians 3:8

Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. Colossians 3:12-13
