September 29

Even though the world around us may be in chaos, we have been given the weapon of peace. Paul calls them shoes. The Roman soldier wore shoes with three inch spikes on the bottom, and grieves that shielded his legs from the top of his knee to the top of his feet. I’m sure it must have been hard walking in shoes with three inch spikes, and it is hard for us to walk in peace. The devil is not always the one who disturbs our peace; sometimes we cause our own havoc by stepping out of the will of God. This is why it’s important to live a life of repentance.

The supernatural peace of God is something I walk in daily and have had it for a good portion of my life. I’m able to deal with difficult people and difficult situations in a very calm manner without realizing the magnitude of my experience. One example was when my husband was sick with a contagious disease that had no cure. I dealt with trying to live a normal life for three years until the effects of the illness took his life. This situation would have shattered most people. I never flinched. The supernatural peace of God, helped me to walk through this unscathed.

The devil is not effective when trying to destroy you if you walk in the peace that passes all understanding. I’ve been in a hurricane and watched as the wind pushed the palm all the way to the ground only to see it bounce back up, and stand tall and straight again. Be like a palm tree!

How do you get this kind of peace? Have faith in God and trust that He will never leave you or forsake you.

and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. Ephesians 6:15
