When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place. And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. And divided tongues as of fire appeared to them and rested on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance. Acts 2:1-4
Just as we celebrate the birth of Jesus and his resurrection from the dead, we should celebrate Pentecost as a special day, the arrival of the Holy Spirit. Others throughout Old Testament history would receive him for a time, and he would leave, but now, upon acceptance of Jesus, he dwells within us continuously, and that is something to celebrate! I am thankful for his presence; he is my guide, my comforter, and a companion I can count on to always be there for me whether times are good or bad. He keeps me out of trouble, helps me control my tongue, and teaches me how to be a better person. Without him, my faith would be weak. He is a special gift to each of us from our LORD and Savior, Jesus. Take time today to thank him for every nudge, quiet whisper, and reminder of his presence. May he bring about something today that the world will not forget. Have a glorious Pentecost today!
