Isn’t this the truth? “You are not restricted by us, but you are restricted in your own affections.” 2 Corinthians 6:12. The King James says it this way: "Ye are not straitened in us, but ye are straitened in your own bowels."

Paul doesn’t hold anything back, and he tells it like it is! We are inclined to blame others for our circumstances, but the truth is that most of the time, we are limited by not overcoming our past. True freedom comes when we get over ourselves and cling to the life Jesus has laid out for us; it’s not about things but a healed heart. He died on the cross to defeat death, which is the worse punishment; why do we fret over things that haven’t killed us? We are no longer guilty because he paid for it on the cross!

So today, ask God what it is that’s holding you back from being your “original self,” the person he created you to be. Listen carefully. He will probably tell you before you get the entire question asked. Then pray for him to help you loose the chains that are binding.
