April 9

When the Holy Spirit gives you a word to define the coming year, you better put on your seatbelt if that word is “adventure!” When I got that word from Him, I politely asked for a different word, but it turns out, that word has defined my year thus far! The surprises and extraordinary happenings of this year, haven’t stopped, and this is only April! The peace within me has been challenged by the gauntlet of things God is taking me through. An athlete doesn’t just show up to play a game, they must first hone their skills. Even though there have been challenges, I have never felt alone, and the peace that passes all understanding, has been the guard of my heart and mind through it all. If I focus on the things that could go wrong, I might end up on the floor in a crumpled mess, but instead, God has brought to my mind the good things that can come from the year of adventure. The lesson in this is to set your mind on the good, and peace will accompany you.

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you. Philippians 4:8-9
