I wish I had taken a picture of the black ketchup I found in a cabinet yesterday and the salsa that dated back to 1996! I suppose that if I stayed in one place long enough, I might collect some ancient food that’s too scary to eat. I learned that canned foods do not last forever, especially if stored in plastic containers, and it may be a good idea to read the label to make sure what you eat isn’t expired. Do you know what doesn’t expire if kept in a sealed container? Rice! Those preparing for the apocalypse may want to put away large bags of rice; it’s a safe bet to last indefinitely; that’s according to the internet. Out with the old and in with the new might be a good idea when it comes to food, but it’s not a good idea for biblical truths. The Bible is chock full of ways to live, namely Jesus, that will help you preserve your life long after your expected expiration. If you have a choice to become ketchup and turn black when spoiled or rice that keeps its freshness, I suggest you become like rice and live indefinitely! I know this may seem a bit silly, but eternity is no joking matter, and there is only one way to be sure of everlasting life, and that is through Jesus. There is no other way.
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6
