April 29

Have you ever noticed when the wind blows that not all the trees move? Looking out over the lake, I also noticed the patterns the wind makes as it gently blows across the top of the water. The whole lake is not moved, only where the wind touches it. The areas that are in the vicinity of the wind are the ones moved by it; you can't see it, but you can feel it and are affected by it. Throughout the Bible, the Holy Spirit is often described as wind. When Jesus commissioned His disciples, He breathed on them to receive His Spirit. After accepting Jesus as our Savior, like the disciples, we have been given new life, the Holy Spirit, Jesus breath. His breath, like the wind, touches some and blows right over others. Those who are touched by His breath had to accept Him in order to receive it. Don't you find that incredible? Jesus' breath is what gives us the power of the Holy Spirit! We are so privileged to have been breathed on by the King!

And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit. John 20:22
